At the D23 conference, Disney announced that MagicBand 2 will be coming to Walt Disney World in early 2017. These new MagicBands feature a removable center puck that can put in a key chain, lanyard, or other accessory if the guest does not want to wear the band on their wrist. No worries about the puck popping out; reportedly the require a small screw driver to remove them.
If you have an old MagicBand you love, no worries! Those will continue to function, so you can still use them.
Annual passholders will begin receiving the new bands as soon as the end of the year. Then, they’ll begin rolling out to Disney resort guests in early 2017.

I’m not sure I like the size as they are rather chunky, but it will. E much easier to be sure I’m putting “Mickey to Mickey,” as they say.
